Arkansas crops: cotton 79% and soybeans 67% rated good to excellent

Mother Nature cooperated and farmers across most of Arkansas had nearly a full week suitable for fieldwork.  Corn made significant progress in the last week with 71% silking more than doubling its progress from a week ago, 19% of the crop is in the dough stage and 72% is rated good to excellent.  Cotton is still well behind its average pace with 58% squaring and 10% setting bolls, 79% is rated good to excellent.   Peanuts are rated 96% good to excellent with 42% of the crop pegging.  Soybeans are 96% emerged, 61% blooming, and 21% setting pods, with 67% of the crop rated good to excellent.  Rice is 2% headed with 66% of the crop rated good to excellent.

Hay first cutting is 90% complete and 69% rated good.  Pastures are rated 56% good to excellent. 

Topsoil moisture is rated 49% percent adequate to surplus and subsoil moisture is rated 62% adequate to surplus.
