Arkansas crops: 70% rice & 88% cotton good to excellent

The USDA reports moderate precipitation across the state as crops continue to progress.

Seventy percent of the rice crop is rated good to excellent and 50 percent is headed, and 1 percent is mature.  Eighty-eight percent of the cotton crop is rated good to excellent, 95 percent is setting bolls, and 1 percent is opening.

Soybeans are rated 66 percent good to excellent with 93 percent blooming and 74 percent setting pods.  Corn is rated 74 percent good to excellent with 87 percent in the dough stage, 61 percent dented, and 12 percent is mature. 

Ninety-seven percent of peanuts are rated good to excellent with 96 percent pegging.  Alfalfa is rated 44 percent good to excellent with 72 percent of the second cutting completed.  Vegetables are rated 73 percent good to excellent

Fifty-three percent of Topsoil and 54 percent of Subsoil are called adequate to surplus.
