Arkansas crops: 68% rice and 67% soybeans rated good to excellent

Arkansas farmers had another week with several days suitable for fieldwork.  Corn continues to progress nicely with 90% silking with 36% of the crop is in the dough stage and 8% dented, 68% is rated good to excellent.  Cotton made significant advancements this past week with 58% squaring and 36% setting bolls, 82% is rated good to excellent.   Rice is rated 68% good to excellent with 5% headed.  Peanuts are rated 92% good to excellent with 66% of the crop pegging.  Soybeans are 97% emerged, 70% blooming, and 37% setting pods, with 67% of the crop rated good to excellent. 

Hay first cutting is 95% complete and 78% rated good.  Pastures are rated 60% good to excellent. 

Topsoil moisture is rated 53% percent adequate to surplus and subsoil moisture is rated 56% adequate to surplus.
