Arkansas crops: 48% corn and 33% rice planted

Despite moderate to heavy precipitation throughout the state, planting made some progress in Arkansas this past week.  Forty-eight percent of the corn crop has been planted, a jump of 11 percent from last week with 27 percent of the crop emerged. Thirty-three percent of rice has been planted with 11 percent emerged. 

Twelve percent of soybeans have been planted, 4 percent emerged.

Six percent of peanuts and three percent of cotton has been planted.

Sixty-two percent of the winter wheat crop has headed and 38 percent of the crop is rated good to excellent.

Four percent of the hay crop has had its first cutting. 

99 percent of Topsoil and 96 percent of Subsoil are called adequate to surplus.
