Arkansas crops: 23% rice, 8% soybeans planted

Better weather allowed for spring planting to make some big jumps this past week.  Thirty-seven percent of the corn crop has been planted, a jump of 22 percent from last week with 12 percent of the crop emerged. Twenty-three percent of rice has been planted with 4 percent emerged. 

Eight percent of soybeans have been planted.

Two percent of peanuts have been planted.

Forty-seven percent of the winter wheat crop has headed and 43 percent of the crop is rated good to excellent.

Three percent of the hay crop has had its first cutting. 

99 percent of Topsoil and 95 percent of Subsoil are called adequate to surplus.
