Arkansas crops: 15% corn, 8% rice planted

Improved weather conditions allowed for some spring planting progress last week, but progress is still behind both last year and the 5-year average for most crops.

Fifteen percent of the corn crop has been planted, a 12 percent jump on the week.  Two percent of the crop has emerged.  Eight percent of the rice crop has been planted, a 7 percent jump on the week.  One percent of both soybeans and peanuts have been planted.  Two percent of the hay crop has had its first cutting.  33 percent of winter wheat has headed and 41 percent of the crop is rated good to excellent.

99 percent of Topsoil and 97 percent of Subsoil are called adequate to surplus.
