Arkansas crop conditions improve with recent rains

Crop conditions have shown slight improvement over the past week.

Soybeans are rated 64% good to excellent, 97% of the crop blooming, and 83% is setting pods.  Cotton is rated 67% good to excellent with 94% setting bolls, and 3% of the bolls are opening.  The rice crop is rated 73% rated good to excellent, and 57% of the crop is headed.   Peanuts are rated 81% good to excellent with 99% pegging.  Corn is rated 60% good to excellent, 93% is in the dough stage, 72% is dented, and 25% is mature. 

The second cutting of hay is 80% complete, and just 2% of alfalfa hay is rated good. Vegetables are 54% good to excellent. 

Topsoil moisture was 58% adequate to surplus and subsoil moisture was 47% adequate to surplus.
