Appropriations work resumes in the House

A U.S. Congressman from Nebraska says work is resuming on appropriations bills, but it likely be a few weeks before agriculture appropriations gets attention.

Mike Flood tells Brownfield…

“It had a lot of pushback the last time it came out with some lawmakers feeling the cuts were too deep. My sense is the new House Speaker wants to weigh in on that with a little more time under his belt, because it might take longer to do it.”

Flood says another continuing resolution will be needed to give lawmakers more time to complete appropriations work.

“We lost a lot of time in the last three weeks to get the new House Speaker. I think that assumes a few things including a continuing resolution and getting a farm bill done by the end of the year.”

The next deadline to fund the government is November 17.
