An Indiana farmer shares his experience with new planters

A west central Indiana farmer says he’s pleased with the performance of two new planters this spring season.

Kevin Cox tells Brownfield, “they did a really, really good job. I’m thrilled with the job they did as far as seed placement.”

He says there has been a learning curve transitioning to high-speed technology.

“The previous planters we’ve been running forever. To go from John Deere to a completely different type and brand of planter and one made in Germany, we had some growing pains. But we survived that and when everything was clicking we were putting everything in the ground in a hurry.”

Cox says they’ll continue to adjust to the planters next spring.

“Trent, my boy, said ‘dad, I drove the planter for seven days and our crop was in the ground. It’s going to be a year before I get back behind the wheel again and have to learn all over again.”
