Agronomist reports crop variability in parts of Ohio and Michigan

A precision agronomist with Advanced Agrilytics says he’s seeing variability in crops impacted by recent dry conditions.

Jake Isley covers southeast Michigan and northwest Ohio.

“The rainfall has shut off and has led to a few problems that I’m starting to see specifically on that water-limited dry acre and it’s really starting to give up and impact what we’re seeing out of that crop overall,” he says.

He tells Brownfield “some of these clay knolls and lighter environments really look like they’re ready to harvest at this point to where some of those higher organic matter, better water holding capacity areas in these fields are really still maintaining some pretty good stay green so the variability of maturity of the soybean crop, and corn for that matter as well, is really all over the board.”

Isley says Advanced Agrilytics is working with growers to mitigate stress and help manage around environmental variability and set the crop up for success.
