Agriculture hires remain steady

A new jobs outlook report shows interest in agricultural careers is increasing.

Erika Osmundson with AgCareers.com tells Brownfield job opportunities last year were about average with almost 60,000 postings on their site and 2017 is starting out strong.  “We’re actually seeing jobs up a little bit in the first quarter of 2017.  2016 was a little slower in terms of job opportunities.”  Instead, she says companies are investing in their employees and providing them with more training for advanced leadership positions.

Osmundson says crop production, precision agriculture, and food and beverage sectors are seeing the most opportunities for new hires.

AgCareers.com reported a 15 percent increase in job seekers, with more than half of the 100,000 applicants having less than five years of experience.
