AGCO eyes cover crops for carbon management

Equipment maker AGCO is doing research to help farmers add soil carbon sequestration to their farming operations. The company says the carbon credit market is a potential farm revenue stream as well as being part of the climate change solution.

The company expects to see carbon-offset credit demand increase as companies such as Apple and BP work towards climate neutrality, according to Louisa Parker-Smith, sustainability director for AGCO.

The company’s research focuses on creating a path to the revenue potential of carbon sequestration through cover cropping and regenerative agriculture.

AGCO is doing research in the U.S., as well as in Africa, Switzerland, and Denmark.
