Ag funding package plus amendments pass House

The U.S. House has passed a package of spending bills for fiscal year 2022 that contain increases for climate measures, USDA staffing and ag research.

According to Agri-Pulse, ag research programs would get a boost of $320 million for a total of nearly 3-and-a-half Billion dollars.

The House adopted an amendment that would increase field staffing at USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service.

And another amendment would increase eligibility for rural broadband assistance through the USDA ReConnect program.

The ag bill was part of a so-called “mini-bus” package of funding bills for seven agencies.

The new fiscal year begins October first.
