AFIA applauds Vilsack on urging trade legislation

The American Feed Industry Association is applauding Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack for pushing to renew Trade Promotion Authority legislation. TPA is a procedure through Congress that defines U.S. trade objectives to better support American jobs and eliminate trade barriers.

The association says it is encouraged by Vilsack’s recognition of TPA’s importance and is hopeful the Biden administration will be an active supporter of its renewal. AFIA says the TPA gives trading partners more confidence that a deal can be reached which could help increase trade.

AFIA says TPA was first implemented in 1974 and has been authorized four times.
