AFBF to Congress: find cause of cattle market imbalance

The American Farm Bureau Federation is calling for Congress to ‘get serious’ about determining what’s causing the cattle market imbalance in this afternoon’s market transparency hearing.

AFBF President Zippy Duvall said the group appreciates the Senate Agriculture Committee’s efforts to get to the bottom of the price disparities causing rising grocery store prices and ‘rock bottom’ payments to ranchers.

AFBF is urging lawmakers to reauthorize Livestock Mandatory Reporting, create a beef contract library and publicize the results of the Department of Justice’s investigation into the livestock markets.
