AFBF plans to refocus on the farm bill & trade

The American Farm Bureau Federation is preparing to highlight the needs of agriculture with the new Congress.

Chief economist John Newton tells Brownfield a new administration brings new people to the table and Farm Bureau wants to be there.

“We want to make sure we communicate the policies of our members with all of these new officials and highlight the importance of agriculture to the rural economy,” he says.

The organization has identified starting the process on a new farm bill and trade as top priorities in the new year as well as securing a stable workforce.

Newton says it’s also important to be part of the conversation as the Biden Administration sets climate priorities to make agriculture part of the solution.
