AFBF comprehensive list of mental health resources

American Farm Bureau has compiled a comprehensive list of mental health resources online at “farm state of mind dot org” in recognition of May as Mental Health month.

Farm Bureau’s managing director of engagement, Jessica Cabrera, tells Brownfield Ag News, “This is something that is very important for us to be talking about and for folks to understand that they are not alone and they don’t have to feel isolated and alone during stressful times like this.”

She says Farm Bureau recognizes not every state has a lot of mental health resources so their list is meant to help fill those gaps, “There are nationally available resources so that if someone is in a geographical region that has limited resources there is access to national resources listed in the directory as well.”

Cabrera says Farm Bureau polls from 2019 and ‘21 show a strong need for an all-in-one directory for farmers to access help for stress and mental health challenges – not only because of the pandemic but the many pressures they face.

She urges people to share the directory through social media and at farmer and community meetings and churches at the local level. Link to FarmerStateofMind directory
