ACE ‘being vigilant’ as RFS deadline nears

The American Coalition for Ethanol (ACE) is calling on President Trump to keep his promise to protect the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS).

On Thursday ACE ran a full-page ad in the Capitol Hill newspaper Roll Call encouraging Trump to tell the EPA to keep RFS volumes at levels intended by Congress.

ACE CEO Brian Jennings says even though EPA administrator Scott Pruitt has promised that, they’re not taking anything for granted.

“I don’t want to have doubts, but I think we really have to continue to be vigilant,” Jennings says. “Until we get to November 30th or whatever date it is that the agency issues these 2018 volumes, we feel like we need to be vigilant and hold EPA’s feed to the fire.”

Under pressure from members of Congress, Pruitt backed off on earlier proposals to weaken the RFS.

EPA is required to release its final 2018 Renewable Volume Obligation (RVO) numbers by November 30th.
