Above average January temperatures for Wisconsin

The USDA says the five weather reporting stations in Wisconsin all recorded warmer than normal conditions during January.

Temperatures ran from 5.8 degrees above usual in Eau Claire to 9.6 higher than average in Green Bay.

Statewide precipitation ranged from 0.97 inches to 2.07 inches, including 18.6 inches of snow in Madison.

The USDA says most of the state still had corn standing at the beginning of the month, with producers harvesting, tilling, and applying manure when conditions allowed.

The USDA’s weekly national crop progress and condition reports resume in April.
