A slight improvement in IL crop conditions

Illinois corn and soybean conditions improved the last week of July.

USDA says 49% of the corn crop is rated good to excellent, an increase of four percentage points from the previous week. Soybean conditions are rated 46% good to excellent, an increase of two percentage points from the previous week.

Most of the corn is silking with 29% of the crop in the dough stage. USDA says 35% of the soybeans are setting pods.

Pasture conditions are rated 41% good to excellent, an improvement from the previous week. The third alfalfa hay cutting has begun at 19% complete.
