96% of U.S. soybeans, 95% of corn harvested

The U.S. corn and soybean harvests should be able to wrap up in the next few days if weather cooperates.

The USDA says 95% of U.S. corn has been harvested, compared to 91% a week ago and the five-year average of 87%, while 96% of soybeans are harvested, compared to 92% last week and 93% on average.

Only 2 of the top 18 corn states and 6 of the top 18 soybean states are behind their respective average paces. North Carolina has officially wrapped up for corn, while harvest is over for soybeans in Louisiana, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota.

96% of winter wheat is planted, compared to the usual rate of 94%, and 85% has emerged, compared to 84% on average, with 46% of the crop rated good to excellent, down 1% on the week.

94% of sorghum is harvested, compared to the normal pace of 87%.

69% of cotton is harvested, compared to 64% typically in mid-November.

59% of U.S. topsoil and 55% of subsoil have adequate to surplus soil moisture levels.
