96% of U.S. corn harvested

The U.S. corn harvest is nearly over and soybeans have wrapped up for the season.

That was with generally good harvest conditions in many areas for most last week, but after weekend winter storm in parts of the Midwest and Plains, there is a significant amount of corn that might not be harvested until spring.

The USDA says that as of Sunday, 96% of the U.S. corn crop is harvested, compared to the five-year average of 90%.

The winter wheat crop is fully planted, with 87% emerged, compared to 86% on average, and 32% of the crop rated good to excellent, unchanged on the week.

79% of cotton is harvested, compared to the normal rate of 71%.

The USDA’s next set of production estimates is out December 9th.
