9% of Indiana corn, 8% of soybeans harvested

The USDA says hot and dry conditions allowed corn and soybeans harvests to pick up last week in Indiana.

Nine percent of the corn crop is harvested, ahead of the one- and five-year averages. Sixty-nine percent is rated good to excellent.

Eight percent of soybeans are harvested, also ahead of both the one-year and five-year average. Sixty-six percent of soybeans are rated good to excellent.

Six percent of the winter wheat crop is planted.
