85% of South Dakota winter wheat good to excellent

The USDA’s says the winter wheat condition rating in South Dakota improved from February to March.

85% of the crop is in good to excellent condition, 12% above last month, with another 15% called fair, down 10%, and none of the state’s winter wheat is in the poor to very poor category.

62% of the state’s topsoil and 61% of subsoil have adequate moisture levels.

The USDA’s weekly crop progress and condition reports resume April 6th.
