$84.7 million in stimulus going to 20 states

Calling it good news for the environment and the economy, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack on Thursday, April 16 announced that $84.7 million dollars in stimulusfunding would be going to 20 states to fund 55 projects that will improve water quality, decrease soil erosion and improve fish and wildlife habitat.

"These projects and the funding are part of President Obama's national recovery plan to modernize ournation's infrastructure, jump start the economy and create in this case close to 1,500 new jobs," Vilsack said.

Secretary Vilsack also said the Natural Resource Conservation Sercice (NRCS) will be the agency that will provide the technical and financialassistance to get the work underway.
