82% of South Dakota corn and 81% of soybeans rated good to excellent

Crop condition ratings in South Dakota are running above national averages.

The latest weekly report from USDA shows 81 percent of soybeans are rated good to excellent, compared to a national average of 70 percent.

Eighty-two percent of the state’s corn acreage is good to excellent, with the national average 10 percent below that.

The winter wheat crop is advancing a little faster than normal with 80 percent in good to excellent condition.

Sunflower planting is 90 percent complete, ahead of both last year and the five-year average.
