67% of Indiana corn, 68% of soybeans rated good to excellent

The USDA says another week of timely rains helped improve crops in Indiana last week.

Crop condition ratings improved to 67 percent of corn and 68 percent of soybeans rated good to excellent.

Ninety-three percent of the corn crop is silking and 37 percent is in the dough stage. Eighty-seven percent of soybeans are blooming, and 54 percent are setting pods.

The third cutting of alfalfa hay is 24 percent complete and the third cutting of other hay is nine percent complete.

Pasture conditions improved slightly, despite muddy conditions.
