61% of Indiana corn, 63% of soybeans rated good to excellent

Cooler temperatures returned to Indiana last week.

The USDA reports that crop condition ratings held steady. The state’s corn crop is 61 percent and soybeans are 63 percent good to excellent.

Ninety-seven percent of corn is in the dough stage, 68 percent is dented, and 20 percent of the crop is mature. 

Nineteen percent of soybeans are dropping leaves.  

The third cutting of alfalfa hay is 89 percent and the third cutting of other hay is 69 percent complete.
