59% of Ohio winter wheat rated good to excellent

Wind and rain limited early-season fieldwork last week in Ohio, according to the latest USDA crop progress and condition report.

Oats are three percent planted and two percent emerged, in line with last year’s crop.

Fifty-nine percent of the state’s winter wheat crop is rated good to excellent.

Ninety-eight percent of the topsoil moisture and 96 percent of the subsoil moisture is adequate to surplus.

This is the first weekly report for the 2023 season.
