57% of Ohio corn, 43% of soybeans planted

Planting progressed in Ohio last week despite cool temperatures.

According to the USDA, corn is 57 percent planted and 11 percent emerged. Soybeans are 43 percent planted and six percent emerged.

Some damage was reported to winter wheat from freezing temperatures early in the week. Seventy-one percent of the crop is rated good to excellent.

Eighty-eight percent of oats are planted, and 64 percent are emerged.
