51% of Indiana corn, 37% of soybeans planted

Planting progress continues in Indiana despite unseasonably cold temperatures.

According to the USDA, corn is 51 percent planted and 13 percent emerged. Soybeans are 37 percent planted and seven percent emerged.

The cool conditions raised concern about potential frost damage to winter wheat and other emerged crops, but winter wheat conditions remain stable. The crop is rated 66 percent good to excellent with 23 percent of the crop headed.
