44% of South Dakota corn, 82% of soybeans harvested

South Dakota’s corn and soybean harvest continues to progress ahead of the five-year average pace.

The USDA says corn is 44% harvested with 39% of the crop in good-to-excellent condition.

Eighty-two percent of soybeans have been harvested, compared to the average pace of 56%. Forty-one percent of the crop is in good-to-excellent shape.

The state’s sunflower harvest is 18% finished, near the average.

Winter wheat farmers have planted 91% of the crop. Fifty-four percent of the crop has emerged.

Pasture and range conditions are rated 11% good-to-excellent.
