3% of Ohio corn, 2% of soybeans planted

Corn and soybean planting got underway in Ohio last week. According to the USDA, fields were dry enough most of the week and farmers were able to plant and complete fieldwork.

Corn is three percent planted and soybeans are two percent planted.

Oats are 54 percent planted and 18 percent emerged, compared to a five-year average of 16 percent. Winter wheat is rated 71 percent good to excellent and 40 percent of the crop is jointing.
