3% of Ohio corn, 2% of soybeans planted

Corn and soybean planting is off to a slow start in Ohio.

Three percent of the state’s corn crop is planted, compared to the one-year average of 20 percent.

Two percent of soybeans are planted, compared to 16 percent a year ago.

Forty-six percent of oats are planted, and 16 percent of the crop has emerged.

The winter wheat crop is 66 percent good to excellent.

Topsoil moisture is 99 percent and subsoil moisture is 100 percent adequate to surplus.
