26% of Ohio corn, 28% of soybeans planted

The USDA says Ohio farmers were able to make “considerable headway” in planting last week.

Twenty-six percent of the state’s corn crop is planted, slightly behind the one-year average. Eight percent of the crop is emerged.

Twenty-eight percent of soybeans are planted, 22 percentage points ahead of the one-year average. Eight percent of the crop is emerged.

Eighty-five percent of oats are planted, and 65 percent are emerged.

Seventy-one percent of the winter wheat crop is rated good to excellent.
