2021-2022 Indiana FFA State Officers elected during 92nd state convention

The 2021-2022 Indiana FFA State Officer Team was elected today during the final general session of the 92nd Indiana FFA State Convention. After a virtual convention in 2020, the year’s event took place at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.

Kourtney Otte of Seymour FFA was elected as the state president. She says she’s most looking forward to…“meeting more members than I would have if I wouldn’t have been elected and meeting the other people who were elected to be on the state officer team with me because they are so ambitious and wonderful and I know this year’s team is going to be successful.”

State Treasurer Jordyn Wickard of Eastern Hancock FFA says she is ready to serve members across the state.

“I’m ready to see what Indiana FFA can do because I know the passion that’s in the organization,” she says. “I know the grit and integrity that we have throughout anything and I’m so excited to serve these members, get to know them, form those connections, and be authentic with them.”

She says the team will work together to make sure members feel valued, loved, and appreciated.

Nicholas Neuman of Rushville FFA is the new state secretary. He tells Brownfield how it feels to be an Indiana FFA state officer.

“I’ll be honest, even before I got on the stage, I couldn’t feel my face and so many emotions were going through me,” he says. “Now that I’m off the stage, I’m happy and excited for the next year and I’m ready to get started.”

Neuman says he’s looking forward to breaking down barriers “of access in terms of diversity, equity, and inclusion and breaking down barriers of vulnerability both around myself and the members in FFA.”

Advice they have for younger FFA members is:

-Don’t let anyone tell you can’t do something. You are amazing, unique, and you can accomplish anything you put your mind to.
-Don’t focus on titles, awards, accomplishment. Instead, focus on memories, experiences, and that time in the blue corduroy jacket.
-Be bold, be authentic, and be you.
