16 Senators tell Trump EPA should not appeal SRE ruling

Sixteen U.S. Senators from both sides of the aisle have written a letter to President Trump urging the EPA not to appeal the court ruling that found the EPA improperly handled small refinery exemptions.

They say IF the administration appeals then the EPA should not administer any more SREs during the process. There are 23 pending requests from 2019 and the senators say they believe the court ruling prevents those from being issued.

The senators say the EPA should deny any waiver requests that don’t meet the criteria in the appeals court ruling.

The letter says EPA has handed out 85 SREs since 2016 and 20 ethanol operations have been idled or shut down since.
