12% of Indiana corn, 17% of soybeans harvested

The USDA says another dry week left fields in Indiana dusty and pushed corn and soybeans toward maturity.

As of Sunday, 12 percent of corn has been harvested, up five percent from last year. Sixty-six percent of the crop is mature, and 59 percent is rated good to excellent.

Seventeen percent of soybeans in Indiana are harvested, ahead of both the one-year and five-year average. Eighty percent of the crop is dropping leaves and 61 percent is rated good to excellent.

Thirteen percent of the winter wheat crop is planted.
