10% of U.S. corn, 6% of soybeans harvested

The U.S. corn harvest is slightly ahead of the usual pace as soybean harvest activity gets underway.

The USDA says 10% of U.S. corn is harvested, compared to the five-year average of 9%, with 93% of the crop dented, compared to 89% on average, and 57% mature, compared to 47% on average.

59% of corn is rated good to excellent, up 1% on the week.

6% of U.S. soybeans are harvested, matching the typical rate, and 58% are dropping leaves, compared to 48% on average, with 58% good to excellent, 1% higher.

21% of winter wheat is planted, compared to 18% normally in late September, and 3% has emerged, compared to 2% on average.

64% of cotton is called good to excellent, unchanged from a week ago, with 48% of bolls opening, compared to 53% on average, and 9% harvested, compared to 11% on average.

76% of the rice crop is in good to excellent condition, a week-to-week gain of 2%, and 51% is harvested, compared to the five-year average of 56%.

24% of U.S. pastures and rangelands are in good to excellent shape, down 1%, with 30% called fair, and 46% in poor to very poor condition.
