Milk futures lower, cash dairy trade mixed

Milk futures on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange closed lower ahead of the monthly milk production report while cash trade was mixed.

September Class III milk unchanged at $16.61. October down eight cents at $17.10. November down 12 cents at $16.86. December down 15 cents at $17.17. January through March contracts three to five cents lower.

Dry whey unchanged at $0.5350.

Blocks down $0.0675 at $1.7250. Five sales were made from $1.7150 to $1.7250.

Barrels up $0.09 at $1.60. Six sales were made from $1.5725 to $1.60.

Butter down $0.0175 at $1.7725. Nine trades were made from $1.7750 to $1.17925.

Nonfat dry milk unchanged at $1.35.
