Milk futures, cash dairy mostly lower

Milk futures on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange closed mostly lower Christmas Eve as limited trade and negative cash prices dragged on the market.

December Class III milk up four cents at $15.71.  January 34 cents lower at $16.66.  February 11 cents lower at $17.69.  March down four cents at $17.65.  April through June contracts eight to 17 cents lower.

Dry whey unchanged at $0.4675. 

Blocks down $0.05 at $1.5975.  Two sales were made at $1.5975 and $1.60. 

Barrels down $0.09 at $1.4650.  Four sales were made ranging from $1.4650 to $1.47. 

Butter unchanged at $1.5250. 

Nonfat dry milk unchanged at $1.1475.
