Markets are paying attention to crop tours

Crops tours provide farmers with another view of the crop size.

Wayne Nelson with L&M Commodities at New Market, Indiana says crop tours provide farmers with the confidence to hang on for a better price, or the confidence that there’s a good crop out there. And he says the market is paying attention.

“You know we saw the market dip when one of the Tweets came out and said, hey this bean field is not looking good, two foot tall beans in Ohio,” Nelson said. “We see the markets react throughout the day to some of these, but it’s going to more overall I think on how the farmer actually feels about things.”

Nelson says the word right now from the independent crop tour being held this week, “varied”.
