Get a jump on 2015 weed control in the fall
Fall is a good time to begin work on next year’s weed control. South Dakota State University Weed Science Coordinator Paul Johnson says farmers can identify weed problems so they’re not a problem again in the 2015 growing season. South Dakota and other likewise northern latitudes do not have resistance issues to the extent of their southern neighbors. It’s important to watch for the weeds that were missed or that emerged late in the season so that they can be dealt with in the coming season. Some of the same conditions that led to a bumper crop this season have resulted in the late emergence and seeding of common waterhemp and velvetleaf.
