Craft beer boom brings back malting barley

After prohibition, malting barley acres have dwindled in the Midwest for nearly a century.  The recent boom in the craft beverage space, however, is turning that around.

In 2017, less than 500 acres in Ohio were planted to winter barley.  We’ll hear how one malting company plans to expand that to more than 75,000 in the region in as little as five years…
