Agriculture will participate in carbon cap-and-trade

House Agriculture Committee Chairman, Collin Peterson and House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman, Henry Waxman, reached an agreement on the ag provisions in the Clean Energy and Security Act on Wednesday. Peterson says the bill will include a carbon offset program for agriculture which will be administered by the USDA. They reinstated the exemption for agriculture to make it clear agriculture will not be under the cap.
