Energy audits save energy, money for farmers and ranchers

DSCN5668Plugging a few holes will save money and the environment.  The USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service helps farmers and ranchers conduct energy audits and improve their overall energy efficiency. Curt McDaniel with the NRCS in Columbia, Missouri, tells Brownfield Ag News that farmers and ranchers who go through the process of finding out where energy savings can be made, also find out where monetary savings are possible.  McDaniel says the primary motivating factor for the agency to share in the costs of energy audits is environmental.  On the other hand, in the course of an audit, cost savings make it what McDaniel calls a win-win for everybody.
