What matters to consumers

Proposition 12 is a voter-approved ballot initiative in California that established new minimum requirements for raising veal calves, pork, and eggs.  California businesses will be prohibited from selling products not raised with these requirements. 

But where do animal husbandry practices actually rank in importance for consumers? Glynn Tonsor, an ag economist at Kansas State University spearheads the Meat Demand Monitor, a large, national-based project that tracks consumer trends.
