Digging deeper into the high price of eggs

If you’ve been anywhere on social media lately you’ve probably seen the memes about egg prices.  But it’s not a joke.  Eggs, which have typically been a loss-leader for grocery stores, are now averaging $4.25 per dozen.

David Ortega, an ag economist for Michigan State University says the worst outbreak avian influenza is one of the biggest contributors to the skyrocketing cost.
