Behind the Scenes

Visiting Thayer, Missouri

Thayervisit Wednesday was the perfect day for a road trip.  Mike Cady, Affiliate Relations Manager, and I jumped in my red Impala first thing in the morning and headed south on 63 to Thayer, Missouri, home of Brownfield affiliate radio station KALM-AM.

Bob Eckman, Vice President of Operations for Missouri Ozark Radio Network, Inc. gave us a tour of the radio station where he first began working when he was a Junior in high school.  Since that time, the station has been remodeled and expanded in size.

It is obvious there is a great emphasis on people in this organization.  When you walk in the door, Peggy’s smile makes you feel right at home.  Look to the left and you’ll see a "holiday tree."  The artificial tree is decorated not only for Christmas, but for other holidays throughout the year.  Currently, the theme is Easter.

On the wall, you see many awards.  There are pictures of staff members on the wall as well as pictures of staff members with their respective families.  It’s a wonderful, warm atmosphere.

KALM has been affiliated with Brownfield Network since the early days when we were connected to stations by phone lines.

Mike and Bob posed for a picture out in front of the radio station.

I also took a shot of the station sign and a view of the station from the parking lot.
