Trump says he might prefer China deal happening after 2020 election
For the first time, President Trump is indicating he might prefer striking a deal with China after the 2020 election.
Speaking to reporters in London while attending the NATO Summit, Trump said in some ways he likes the idea of waiting. But he says China wants a deal now, so he will see if it’s going to be right for the U.S.
The Trump Administration is also standing firm on imposing additional tariffs on Chinese goods in the absence of an agreement.
Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross says if nothing happens between now and December 15th, the President has made it clear he’ll put the increased tariffs in.
As recently as last week, Trump talked about negotiations being in the final throes. But when asked yesterday if he has a deadline for a deal, he said no.
I am not anti-Trump but I do not know how farmers can let this attitude go without protest.
